RSS is an XML-based format that allows syndication of lists of hyperlinks, and other information, or metadata, which allows viewers to decide whether to follow the link. Each blog has a feed. Most of the new social media sites are using RSS to distribute their content. Twitter works in RSS feeds, Facebook and MySpace use RSS. RSS has become so mainstream that all the browsers now read RSS.
Benefits of RSS:-
The benefit of RSS is the aggregation of content from multiple Web sources in one place. RSS content can be read using software called a "feed reader" "feed reader" or an "aggregator", which can be web-based computer or desktop. A standard XML file format allows the information to be published once seen by many different programs. The user subscribes to a feed by entering the feed link into the reader or by clicking an RSS icon in a browser that initiates the subscription process. The RSS reader checks the user's subscribed feeds regularly for content, download the updates it finds, and provides a user interface to monitor and read the feeds.
